Los Angeles
Memorial Coliseum
Graphic Design Internship | 2024—Present
During my internship with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, I had the chance to work at one of the most iconic venues in the world.
Opened in 1923, the Coliseum has hosted two Olympic Games, countless historic sports moments, presidential visits, and world-renowned performers.
Its walls carry nearly a century of history, and as the Coliseum prepares to host the 2028 LA Olympics, I was able to contribute to a range of design projects that bring this legacy to life — from commemorative coins and large-scale displays to branded materials that helps shape visitor experiences.
One of the first projects I worked on after joining the Coliseum team was designing the annual commemorative coin.
I was given the theme and spent time sketching and illustrating multiple concepts before collaborating with my boss and the General Manager to perfect the final design.
The 2024 and 2025 Coliseum coin has now been printed, and we are preparing the 2026 edition. It was such a privilege to contribute to a project of this scale for a venue with so much history by bringing the coin’s visual concept to life.
As the Coliseum prepares for the 2028 LA Olympics, I had the opportunity to contribute to the Welcome Center’s redesign. The project involved creating a black-and-white historic collage that captures the venue’s full legacy. Using an archive of historic photographs, I was given complete creative freedom to design the collage and tell the Coliseum’s story visually.
While the project is currently on hold due to changes in the placement of screens on the wall, it was an exciting opportunity to experiment with large-scale composition, history-driven storytelling, and archival material.
In addition to the larger projects, I worked on smaller but meaningful design pieces that shape visitors’ experiences at the Coliseum. I created celebratory pins for guests — like “First Visit” or “It’s My Birthday” — which visitors could wear and personalize with their names.
I also designed guest experience cards and business cards for the staff, helping create a consistent and polished look across the Coliseum’s front-facing touchpoints.
These projects allowed me to think about how small details and tangible items can enhance someone’s visit and create memorable interactions with the venue.
